Steinhoff’s furniture business in southern Africa comprises its own manufacturing activities producing a comprehensive range of upholstered furniture, bedding, non-solid case goods and solid case goods that caters for the full spectrum of the market. Steinhoff manufactures a significant number of the major brands in the region. At present, goods are produced from 15 factories mainly for the local market. Capitalising on increasing awareness of Steinhoff brands globally, an increasing proportion of upholstered goods will be produced for export markets. Steinhoff’s manufacturing activities are complemented by specialist import distribution skills. The import division derives major benefits from the Steinhoff International Sourcing infrastructure, including sourcing, quality control and order management. The group’s regional manufacturing facilities include the largest upholstered furniture factory in southern Africa measured by production volume – the Grafton Everest facility in Durban. Steinhoff also owns the three largest foil case goods manufacturing facilities in South Africa.
