Steinhoff is a leading supplier and distributor of furniture in the German region – comprising mainly Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia and Hungary. On a smaller scale, this regional operation also supplies and distributes to Asia, Poland, the Baltic States and the United Arab Emirates.

Germany is the largest furniture market in Europe and among the top five in the world ranked by per-capita furniture spending. The market is, however, fragmented with no manufacturer above 5% in market share. Independent analysis puts Steinhoff’s market share at 3-5%, reflecting steadily increasing revenue from this region for almost a decade.

Primary customers are large mail order companies, discount mass market retailers and members of independent buying groups. Dedicated Steinhoff  retailers have now been added to the customer base, increasing the group’s market penetration. The retail chain Quattro Mobili in Hungary forms part of this operation.

There are five production facilities in Germany, eight in Poland, two in Hungary and two logistics centres in Germany. Primary products are case goods, upholstered and motion furniture and mattresses, sold through specialised trading companies with dedicated sales forces focused on specific products.
