Group operations overview

Steinhoff operates a vertically integrated and geographically diverse business model, consolidating all points of contact from raw materials to retail outlets across extensive product offerings that focus on furniture, beds and related homewares and, in southern Africa includes integrated raw materials and logistics operations.

Steinhoff's vertically integrated supply chain focus on manufacturing and sourcing, logistics, and furniture and household goods retail. These operations are underpinned and supported by a centralised corporate services team and a corporate responsibility structure. Owning key parts of the supply chain in order to remain price competitive and deliver exceptional customer service, has resulted in sustained growth.

Geographically, Steinhoff focuses on the United Kingdom, continental Europe, the Pacific Rim and southern Africa. Each region applies the most appropriate supply chain given the strengths and opportunities inherent in that specific market.

Group services teams in the different regions support operational management through a variety of services under the leadership of the international group services team based in Johannesburg, South Africa. This allows local management to devote their full attention to operational issues. These teams ensure that the corporate assets and financial risks are professionally managed, and that activities comprising brand management, participation interests (equity investments in and loans to strategic retail and supply customers), treasury and financial management, human resources, information technology, internal control and audit, taxation management, legal and technical services, are aligned and conducted in the best interest of the group.
